CUSD Instruction and Technology Summit 2024
Friday November 1, 2024 12:25pm - 1:45pm PDT
Math scores have plummeted. Student engagement, motivation, and confidence is terribly low. How do we get students excited about learning and achievement in math class? What if you could teach ratios, the number system, integers and more using the video games students know and love? Come discover how to meet students where they are by harnessing the power of video games - and the math they use while gaming - to create engaging and interactive educational experiences. In this session we will delve into the current challenges that math teachers face and provide strategies they can use to boost engagement, attendance and performance in the mathematics classroom. This session will share insights and experiences based on the latest research and introduce you to a revolutionary new approach to instruction called Gamer Math.
• Attendees will discover the research-based approach to elevating student achievement by channeling their students’ passion for gaming into teaching standards-based math.
• Participants will learn how esports players are constantly doing math as they game… and how the better one is at math, the better gamer one can be.
• Participants will be provided with immediately usable ideas, tools, tips, and resources
